In 1985, an American invented hollow glass, which is composed of double or triple layers of glass. Between the glass interlayers, there is an aluminum profile with desiccant. Then, high-strength sealant is used to bond the glass and aluminum profiles together to create a combined glass with good airtightness, sound insulation and heat insulation.
The function of the desiccant inside the glass is to keep the air dry in the enclosed space, prevent internal condensation and frost, and increase the dew point on the external glass surface. Since the thermal conductivity of glass is 27 times that of air, the sealed dry gas inside the glass plays a good role in heat insulation. Some glass interlayers are even filled with inert gas and coated on the inner glass surface to better improve the heat insulation effect.

The performance of hollow glass filled with inert gas in the middle and coated on the inner glass is indeed much better than other ordinary hollow glass. The test results show that hollow glass has the effect of reducing noise by 30dB, but the effect on low-frequency noise is relatively poor. Triple-layer glass is better than double-layer glass, but the window frame of triple-layer glass is much thicker than double-layer glass, and the cost is much higher. Hollow glass windows are generally used more in casement windows, which can increase the opening area of the window.
If you choose a casement window that opens and tilts inward, you don’t need to open it often in daily life. You only need to use the tilt mode, which is both ventilated and waterproof, and easy to use.
